Taste Test
This Sunday, Pastor Rob Shepherd continued our HeatWave series with a timely message titled "Taste Test." Looking at Jesus' words in Matthew 5:13, we were reminded that followers of Christ are called to be the salt of the earth, bringing God's flavor, influence, and hope into a world that desperately needs it.
💬 "The world doesn't need Christians who blend in. It needs Christians who make a difference."
Jesus never intended for His people to keep their faith hidden. Salt only fulfills its purpose when it's used, and in the same way, our lives should point people toward Christ wherever we live, work, and serve.
From this passage, we were challenged with two important truths:
🔥 Salt Makes a Difference
Salt preserves, enhances, and creates thirst. As followers of Jesus, we're called to impact the people around us through our words, our character, and the way we love others. When we live differently, people begin to notice something different about Jesus.
💬 "Our lives should leave people thirsty for what only Jesus can satisfy."
🔥 Don't Lose Your Flavor
Jesus warned that salt that loses its saltiness no longer serves its purpose. Pastor Rob challenged us to guard against becoming spiritually complacent or allowing culture to dilute our witness. God has uniquely placed each of us where we are to shine for Him.
💬 "You don't have to be famous to have influence. You just have to be faithful."
The message closed with a simple but challenging question: If someone took a "taste test" of your life, would they experience the love, grace, and truth of Jesus? Our calling isn't simply to attend church, but to faithfully represent Christ every day.
